Dice Game
Dice Game
1. To play, you will need a pair of dice, a pencil, and a piece of paper.
2. The winner is either:
Younger players: the player with the higher sum (add the 2 dice together) after each roll,
Older players: the player that reaches a sum of 250 first, WITHOUT going over.
3. Players (in turn) toss the dice.
Younger players: After each toss, add the two dice together. The winner for each roll is the highest sum.
Older players: After each toss, the player decides on the value of the roll.
For example, if a 2 and a 1 are rolled, the value could be either 21 or 12
4. The players begin to play.
Younger players: Play at least 10 turns.
Older players: Begin to total your score. You may add as many times as you wish, but may SUBTRACT only twice. REMEMBER, you may not go over 250.

Close to 10, 20, 100
Close to 10, 20, 100
You need:
“Close to 100” – Draw 5 cards. Use 4 cards and discard one. Create 2 two-digit numbers to add. Follow the same procedures above.
Variation: Use a combination of addition and subtraction to reach the target number
- Digit cards 1-9, (Ace = 1, Joker = wild card or removed)
- Paper and pencil
- 2 to 4 players
- Shuffle the cards. Place them face down in the middle to form a draw pile.
- Each player draws 3 cards from the top of the draw pile.
- Choose 2 cards to add together to get as close to 10 as possible. Example: Player #1 draws 2, 3, and 6 and chooses 3 + 6 = 9
- Discard the unused cards.
- Scoring: Each player’s score is the difference in the card sum and the number 10. Example: 10 – 9 = 1. The score for Player #1 is 1.
- The player with the lowest difference wins that round and records one tally. Repeat steps 2-5. The first player to win 10 tallies is the winner.

Grades 1-2
"Total 20"
Number of players: 2-3
Materials: Deck of cards (Ace through 10 - Ace = 1 and 10=10)
Directions
Cards are shuffled and each player draws a card. The one with the highest card is the dealer. Each player receives four (4) cards to be held in the hand so the other players cannot see the cards.
Four (4) cards from the remaining deck are then placed on the middle of the table face up. The rest of the cards in the deck are placed face down next to the face up cards.
The player to the right of the dealer takes a card from his/her hand and places it on one of the face up cards so that both cards can be seen and states the sum of the cards. The player then draws a card from the face-down deck to maintain four cards in his/her hand.
Play continues in a clockwise direction with each player placing one of the cards from their hand on one of the face-up stacks to try and get a sum of 20.
If a player plays a card that makes a sum of exactly 20, that player takes that stack of cards. The stack is replaced by drawing a new card from the face-down deck and placing it face up on the table. Cards may not be put on a stack if the card make the sum more than 20. If a player cannot place a card without going over 20 the player loses his/her turn.
The game ends when the cards in the deck are gone and players cannot make a stack equal 20 with their remaining cards.
The player who has collected the most cards from the stacks is the winner.

"Find 10"
Materials: Deck of cards (Ace – 10)
How to play: Shuffle cards and turn 9 cards face up in a 3 X 3 array.
Each player finds as many 1 or 2 card combinations as possible that equal a sum of 10 during his/her turn. Cards that are used to make 10 are removed from the array and kept by the player. Once all combinations have been made, the player takes cards from the deck to replace those taken from the array and the next player takes his/her turn finding all the combinations of 1, 2 or 3 cards that equal a sum of 10. If there are no combinations in the array, the player may turn over the top card of the deck and try to find 10 with that number. If no 10 can be made, the card turned over goes on the bottom of the deck and the next players takes their turn. Play continues in this manner until all cards are used. The player collecting the most cards wins.
Variations: *Use more addends (you would need to increase the size of the array by adding another row of 3)
*Increase the target sum
*Use addition, subtraction, multiplication, division with order of operation
